ABOUT OUR LEAGUE

Mission Statement: The Maverick Summer Swim League provides children from the greater San Antonio area with a total aerobic exercise program within the framework of a fun, yet competitive summer swim program. The league affords families much-needed 'togetherness time' by allowing multi-aged children through age 18 years to compete on the same team. Furthermore, the league impacts local communities by offering children high-quality, low-cost, competition stroke instruction and scheduled, organized meets. Our mission creates safer neighborhood pools while actively involving children in a fun and healthy lifestyle.

DOING MORE FOR LESS MONEY

The Maverick Summer Swim League provides San Antonio summer swim league teams an opportunity to compete in a high-quality league without draining the team's funds. The league's all-inclusive low-cost annual fee of $11 per swimmer (or $12 if the swimmer joins after May 20) allows teams to use the majority of their funds to secure experienced swim coaches and purchase necessary equipment that supports a successful swim team program.

1ST SAN ANTONIO SSL TO OFFER COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

In 2006, the Maverick Summer Swim League began awarding a minimum of two university scholarships to our athlete/scholars. The league started the scholarships in an effort to reward swimmers who participated in our organization, were strong academic students, and who served as positive role models for the younger swimmers on their teams. It has been a pleasure to continue the scholarships each year.

USING STATE-OF-THE-ART SOFTWARE & TECHNOLOGY

  1. The MSSL uses its funds to provide our teams with the latest state-of-the-art timing systems--the Dolphin Timing System by Colorado Time Systems--for use at all of the league's dual meets. We believe the MSSL is the only U.S. summer swim league that utilizes this equipment at all of its meets.
  2. In 2012, the league is purchasing the Hy-Tek Meet Manager 4.0 software upgrades for its teams. It is our intention to have all MSSL teams trained on the latest version of swimming software in an effort to run more efficient meets.
