DIVISION 3 CHAMPIONSHIP MEET

Place: University of Incarnate Word Natatorium, 4901 N. Broadway San Antonio, TX 78209
Facility details: 10 + lanes by 25 yards. Admission: Free
Directions: Take 281 South towards downtown San Antonio. Take Hildebrandt exit and turn left at the stop light onto Hildebrandt. Go over 281 and turn left at the first stop light into UIW campus. Take an immediate left in parking area, follow around to right, and take left over the bridge. Natatorium sits on the right and the Convocation Center (gym) will be straight in front of you. Teams and parents go to the Convocation Center (gym) to find team and parent seating. Do NOT go to Natatorium.
Team seating: Team name signs will be posted for your assigned team seating area in the bleachers in the gym. Look for your TEAM NAME.
Judges, scorekeepers, and league officers may enter the natatorium at TBD p.m. Coaches, parents, and swimmers report to the Convocation Center (gym) upon arrival. At TBD p.m. teams come to the natatorium for warm-ups. Parents are to remain in the gym during warm-ups unless attending a judges’ or timer’s meeting in the natatorium.
Team packets: On the day of the meet the MEET DIRECTOR, STEVE MACHA, will be in the gym to give each team rep or head coach a meet packet. The packet includes 10 copies of heat sheets, pink & blue relay cards for coaches, and volunteer badges for parent helpers.
Relay cards: Coaches making name changes on relay teams must do so NLT 30 minutes prior to the meet’s beginning and given to the Head Scorekeeper. If relays are to be swum as entered into the meet, then no written relay card is necessary.
Warm-ups: TBD p.m. DIVIDED INTO TWO 20 MINUTE SESSIONS
Assigned lanes: Team A lanes 1-2, Team B lanes 3 & 4, Team C lanes 5 & 6, Team D lanes 7 & 8, & Team E lanes 9 & 10.
Timers’ meeting: TBD p.m. at the natatorium for ANY/ALL TIMERS working any part of the meet
Coaches meeting: TBD p.m. in Coach Davis’ office
Meet begins: TBD p.m. – Ends approximately TBD p.m.
Meet entries: Teams may enter 2 relay teams per age group for the Championship Meet.
Swimmers can enter no more than 4 total events. There is no limit on the number of entries for
individual events from each team. Teams may download the meet file from the web site under
Hy-Tek Downloads. All Division 3 entries are due to Angella Woodward no later than 12 noon on
THURSDAY, 6/14.
All-Star Meet Qualifiers: The 1st place winners for both individual and relay events from each Division automatically qualifies for the All-Star Meet followed by the next 5 fastest times from any division. If a swimmer cannot attend the All-Star Meet, the lane remains empty. At least 3 out of the 4 placing swimmers on a relay team must swim at the All-Star Meet or the lane remains empty. No All-Star meet entries need to be submitted to Angella. Rain date is the following Tuesday
if needed.
Spectator Seating: There is NO spectator seating as natatorium deck space is limited. Parents are asked to stay in the air conditioned gym with the team until your child goes to the natatorium to swim. At the natatorium is standing room only--no chairs allowed. Once your child has swum, you will return to the gym and wait for your swimmer’s next event. DO NOT BRING CHAIRS.
New for 2012: A videocast of the meet is to be streamed into the gym from the pool.
Concessions: The UIW Swim Team will run an affordable concession stand in the gym for swimmers and parents with food and drink items appropriate for the time of day of the meet.
Ready Bench: Located in the short bleachers either behind the starting blocks or on the side of the pool. Team coaches/or a designated parent volunteer are responsible for directing swimmers to the correct starting blocks, but are not allowed behind the blocks. Children swimming 25’s dive from the deck at the finish end, and swim towards the normal start end. Coaches are to sit at the tables on the STARTER’S side of the pool.
Parent Volunteers: Each team provides parent volunteers to work at the meet as timers, with program and t-shirt sales, runners, scorekeepers, ribbons & awards area, clean up in team area, and as helpers to bring swimmers to the natatorium ready benches. Teams also assign parents to assist younger swimmers to the restrooms, calling swimmers ready for their events, and cleaning up the team area during at the end of the meet. NO ITEMS CAN BE LEFT BEHIND!
Awards: Teams - 1st – 3rd place banners
Swimmers - 1st – 3rd place medals, and 4th - 16th ribbons.
High point trophies: awarded at the All-Star Meet to the boy and girl from each age group (EXCLUDING 6 & U as they usually swim only 2 events) earning the most points for his/her team in the individual & relay events at the Division Championship Meet.
LIFEGUARDS: No one is allowed to interfere with the UIW lifeguards on duty in any manner.
BALCONIES: No swimmers or spectators are allowed on the balconies. IF CAUGHT ON THE BALCONY RAIL, THE SWIMMER WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE MEET.
Rules:
1. The MSSL agrees to leave the buildings in good and clean order.
2. The MSSL agrees that no offensive language, gambling, firearms, weapons, alcohol, controlled substances, other intoxicants of any kind, or tobacco will be permitted to be used.
3. The MSSL agrees that no disorderly or disruptive behavior takes place at UIW.
4. Teams/parents will abide by helping enforce the NO RUNNING safety rule.
5. Swimmers will not be allowed in the extra three lanes during the meet.
6. NO ONE allowed on the natatorium balconies.
7. No GUM—especially in the gym.
8. Waivers to be signed for all swimmers & coaches.
